Vietnam is the world’s fifth-largest rice-producer all over the world, meaning that it has the fifthlargest rice straw quantity. Rice straw has both calorific value and nutrient value. ...every year Vietnam has around 67 million tons of dry rice straw available. Thus, managing rice straw is not only a challenge but also an opportunity to utilize the available resource and reduce agriculture’s climate footprint in an agricultural country like Vietnam. Currently, Vietnamese farmers have been encouraged by government to implement alternatives rice straw management practices, such as: mushroom cultivation, fertilizer, feed, fuel and biomass production. Legislation on environmental protection in general and agricultural environmental protection in particular have been issued and been in effect for over 20 years. However it does not directly address the issue of rice straw management method... To refrain air pollution from impact of burning rice straw, it is suggested to adapt modern technology instead of the traditional use of straw. According to that, incorporation, mushroom cultivation, compost and bio-char are discussed to find out its strength and weakness.
